    • Ecological Notes :
      Little is known of its biology or ecology.
      Habitats :
      Distribution :
      Known only from North Australia, southern Japan, China, Indonesia and Singapore. In Singapore waters found at 18m between Pulau Ubin and Pulau Tekong, intertidally at Chek Jawa and at 17m off Pulau Semakau.

    • Trends & Threats :
      Reclamation in the Pulau Tekong area threatens the main habitat for this species in Singapore.
      Scientific Interest & Potential Value :
      A massive but rare species with little known about its biology.
      Conservation Notes :
      With the loss of much of the sea bed habitat of this species through recent extensive land reclamation at Pulau Tekong, the remaining intertidal/subtidal habitat, at Chek Jawa and the site at the Southern Islands, should both be designated as Marine Protected Areas.
