    • Ecological Notes :
      Coral reefs. Like all strombirds, they move by leaping across the sandy by plunging their operculum into the sand for leverage and then throwing themselves forward.

      Coral Reef, Marine
      Distribution :
      Western Pacific.

      Habitat degradation, and collection for marine curio trade.
      Scientific Interest & Potential Value :
      Shell trade.
      Conservation Notes :
      Present in small numbers until the 1960s. Rarely seen since then and possibly now wiped out. Sites of occurrence need to be identified and legislation to protect marine life from over-collecting needs to be instituted.
