    • Ecological Notes :
      In sand near coral reefs. Almost fully buried in the sand, with narrow pointed base firmly anchored. Broad end above sand surface usually slightly opened to expose colourful mantle.

      Coral Reef, Marine
      Distribution :
      East Africa to Polynesia.

      Habitat degradation, and collection.

      Used as food.
      Conservation Notes :
      Not commonly seen now. Sites of occurrence need to be identified, some need to be designated as nature areas or marine protected areas, and legislation to protect marine life from over-collecting needs to be instituted.
