  • Description
    • Description :
      Body robust, covered in shiny overlapping and strongly keeled scales, symmetrical arrangement of large scales on top of the head. Body bronze-brown with or without a series of thin black stripes down the back. Sides either blackish with white spots or with a swathe of orange from the ear to the hind legs. Underside of the head yellow on some individuals.

      Diurnal. Feeds mainly on insects and bears live young. In Singapore, widespread in wooded areas, mangroves and parkland.

      Distributed from southern China and north-eastern India and throughout Southeast Asia.
