      Growth Form: Cactus with a round growth form.
      Stems: Smooth, green stem is divided into 10 distinct ribs. The rib is sparsely lined with white, wooly areoles which have 1-2 short, dark-tipped spines.
      Flowers: Large, funnel-shaped flowers are composed of 2 rows of oblong petals with sharply pointed tips.
      Similar :
      This species is similar to Astrophytum asterias, but the former has thinner, more distinct ribs, while the latter has flattened ribs with little space between adjacent ribs.
      Cultivation :
      Most Echinopsis species do not flower in Singapore, but this species does. Exposure to full sun will cause the stem to turn yellow.
