  • Ecology, Habitat & Location
    • Ecological Notes :
      These marine crabs prefer to burrow in sandy substrate, keeping their entire bodies buried out leaving the antennae above the substrate, which probably forms a breathing tube of interlocking hairs through which the crab can respire while remaining buried.

      Marine, Sandy Shore
      Distribution :
      Indo-west Pacific.

      Destruction of suitable habitats, notably stretches of sandy beach area at Labrador Beach.
      Scientific Interest & Potential Value :
      Little is known about the biology of these crabs. The habitat that they live in is vulnerable to developmental pressures and land reclamation efforts.

      Protection of naturally occurring sandy beaches.
