    • Size :
      80 mm
      Description :
      Gastropod mollusc with a dextrally coiled shell, the last whorl very wide and open, and with a series of more than a dozen small openings through the shell.
  • Ecology, Habitat & Location
    • Ecological Notes :
      They inhabit wave-exposed intertidal rocky shores, and are often found singly, under rocks and in crevices, grazing on the algae that grow on the rocks. They are found in such habitat in the Singapore Straits, and are widely distributed in the Indo-West Pacific. They never grow to the large sizes attained by commercial abalone species.

    • Conservation Notes :
      Sufficient areas of rocky habitat with crevices and associated algal growth are required to support populations of the various abalones, including this species. Sea-walls are not a suitable alternative habitat.
